Robins are especially beautiful in the snow, don't you think?
It probably has something to do with their orange belly that contrasts so nicely with the white. That's why I had to portray this beauty.
Surprisingly cold spring weather in April suddenly wasn't so bad anymore. :-)

What I like about a snowy landscape is the emptiness of the image, the omission, it gets very graphic. Only some parts still ask for attention and the rest is immersed in tranquility.

Driving along the dike at Oudekerk on the Amstel 

I look down and think, funny that you think sheep are almost white 

untill they appear to be much more yellow next to the white snow.

Walking by the muiderpoort with my dog my eye catched this in a way touching image. A large coarse wall with loads of snow on the floor and then this delicate plant in the front . Not much more then a twig actually with only one yellow leaf attached. And that leaf does his best to survive with a mouthful of snow on his head.

but whenever i see a red boat especially a small rowingboat it gives me a feeling of hope.

I was walking my dog in the neighbourhood of Artis the Amsterdam zoo where my studio is. From the dark part of the street i had a look at the sunny side of the street with the zoo in the back across the water. In this scene entered a woman with an amazingly red coat because of the reflection of the sun. She gave me a big smile and said what a beautiful day isn't it, i agreed whole-heartedly and knew i had my happy-mini-moment for the day.

If you look out of your car-window, even on a dull dutch highway, in white wintertime. You will be amazed how different the landscape colors seem. The greens are grayer, the grays are more blue, and the browns look more like ocher. The whole scene is softer and gentle to the eyes. I like it!
