I never recall seeing an otter in real life, but a dear friend of mine is a huge fan of this animal. So I dived into the world of otter today and this is what I came up with. Otter is constantly on the move and is a very curious creature, they remind us that everything is interesting if we look at it from the right angle. When otters are not eating, hunting, or sunning they are most often playing. Observing an otter in water, shows us that it’s possible to view life as a game to be enjoyed. As if they say: Let life simply be, rather than stopping the flow by worrying about things which have happened. Mmm sure would love to be more like otter, gliding through the emotional ups and downs of life with little or no effort. Doesn't that sound attractive?

One thing I like about painting is that you can change reality just the way you like it. You can get rid of the unnecessary. How I wish it would be that simple in daily life. 

This is an impression of a place in Amsterdam where I often play with my dog. It is a sort of mini-island. I tried to minimize it without losing the suggestion. Do you think it worked? Or do you sometimes feel you would like to strip the superfluous?

Almost every morning he sits there as I walk by high on 'his' lamppost deeply ensconced in his ragged grey coat, mister heron. Unperturbed it seems, with one leg in the air, maybe he's in deep meditation, but most likely he is just waiting for a bite from the woman next door.

This must be THE beauty of the Hoogtekadijk in Amsterdam. Some cars are personalityies and this is certainly one of them. Her sassy red door and jolly yellow body puts a smile on my face everytime I see her.
