The miracle is
that the brilliance,
of the miraculous
can live
in the blandness
of the mundane.

The greater miracle
is that we
have enough brilliance,
in our
blandness,
to see it

The world turns softly

Not to spill its lakes and rivers,

The water is held in its arms
And the sky is held in the water.
What is water,
That pours silver,
And can hold the sky?
(Hilda Conkling)

This will be a week full of water whispers,
see you tomorrow!

Once I spoke the language of the flowers

Once I understood each word the caterpillar said

Once I smiled in secret at the gossip of the starlings

And shared a conversation with the housefly in my bed.

Once I heard and answered all the questions of the crickets
And joined the crying of each falling dying flake of snow
Once I spoke the language of the flowers
How did it go?
How did it go?

Smell the soil, get out there and ask the birds
Still your mind just for a while, open up your loving heart
Gently let nature's stories give you a spark
And overflow your thirsty soul.
(free after Shel Silverstein)

Have a magical week!

This weekend a friend reminded me how close an animal can get to your heart. She lost her cat-friend by a heart-attack out of nowhere and I felt incredibly compassionate. I truly know how much that hurts.

Another young friend is ill herself but finds great comfort in the company of her soul sister, who coincidentally is a dog girl:-) They support each other in a very special way and feel perfectly safe together.

You know, animals do speak, but maybe only to those who know how to listen.

Have a loving week
and enjoy the animals around you.

Coming up, new exhibitions of my waterscape paintings in Amsterdam. Wednesday the 18th of October (opening at 17.00)  till Sunday the 29th in the artcentre CBK. On the 28th and the 29th also in the Tropical Institute and in my "open atelier". You can read all about it in the link below.
Today a small waterscape to celebrate the multiplicity of water. This time the miniature is inspired on my big painting. "What Lies Beneath-5"

If you can't spend some time in nature this week, break free in your head, imagine you are near these pink streams. To gather peace of mind and wash your spirit clean.

Water by itself has no distinct color. It lends colors from its surroundings. It mirrors the trees, it echo’s the sky, it shows its transparent view of it’s underlying bottom.

We as humans are in a way similar. We take the shape and colour of our environment. So we better look for a scenery we love.
Surround yourself with people and thoughts that uplift you, shine your brightest colors and inspire others to do the same.

Happy-mini Waterscapes

Remember no 1085?
My little 'Dreaming At The Pond'

In a way a lot started with this small no. 1085
It grew into a big painting called 'What Lies Beneath'

This painting brought me to an exhibition in museum de Fundatie
and it brought me to paint a whole series of these waterscapes.
So remember to keep on dreaming nice things for yourself too! :-)

The  weekend of  8 | 9 | 10 | september the whole series of big ones will be on exhibit in Amsterdam.
I would like to invite you to come and see, drink something and enjoy the view.
Please read all about the what | where | when | HERE

Outside my atelier I walked upon this little feathered creature. I was a bit surprised because there was no movement what soever. At first I thought it maybe was a stuffed specimen. Especially when I could approach so close and there was still no motion to see.

But no. He or she was for real. A young blackbird. Maybe she did not learn to be afraid of people yet. Mother Blackbird on the other hand was very anxious hipping at the top of the fence.
I am curious when the fear in the young bird will kick in.
Surely hope never, at least not for me:-)
I love feathered friends

Wish you a week with no fear, just love

Todays miniature shows you the north-sea-regatta we witnessed in Scheveningen. At first we just thought "wow" so many people sailing today haha.

And to be honoust I've had no idea what so ever about who won or what the main goal of this competition is. But it sure looked impressive.

Life, of course, is never a race, but sometimes it's fun to enter a contest.
You might remember one of my larger paintings is selected for zomerexpo and is on display and for sale at a Dutch Museum de Fundatie.
(To be precise my work is in the garden room (Tuinzaal) at the Castle Nijenhuis in Heino if you would like to visit)

But there is also a contest for the public's favorite and I would love to win that of course:-)

Please vote for me if you like. With this link you can vote and see the big painting at the same time. Thank you so much!

Waterlily's like the lotus have their roots firmly entrenched in the mud and their beautiful flowers lightly floating on the water surface.

They close their pretty heads every evening as the light fades and open up fresh and frivolous at dawn. That's why they can be seen as a symbol of rebirth and second chances.

I like this symbolic meaning and I believe in second, third or even fourth chances. And  I will keep on stating it's important to never give up on your dream.

Several years ago I visited museum de Fundatie /kasteel het Nijenhuis. I fell in love with the natural surrounding and the way the art was shown in this castle. I secretly wished to hang there with my art, but I did not even paint at that time. This Wednesday this dream will come true!

My painting 'What Lies Beneath' (100x100cm) is being exhibited from the 24th of may till the 20th of august in museum de fundatie/kasteel Nijenhuis.
It feels kind of festive, just as it feels festive that today I painted no. 1100 of the miniature project. One little step at the time and believing it's possible will get you almost anywhere you want.

What is your dream?

You probably know walking is good for you. It strengthens your heart, lowers disease risk, gives you energy, helps you lose weight and best of all walking makes you happy. It's the best medicine for a mild case of depression.

If you walk outside every day for about 30 minutes you also boost your vitamin D and that's something your bones and immune system will love.

Strolling down the beach and feeling the sand between your toes is my absolute favorite. It's like a free foot massage. That together with smelling the sea and all of the above advantages makes me wonder why I don't go there every day:-)

Have a healthy week

Apple blossom what a joy!
This year all of my favorite models seem to blossom at the same time. The blossoms of course but also magnolia, rhododendron, ranunculus, anemone, tulips and I spotted the peony too. Keeps me busy and I like it.
I am painting a larger apple blossom and made a small one on the side for you to blossom away this week.

P.s if you are interested, I will put the bigger painting
on Facebook and INSTAGRAM soon.
